Broward Horne

I am seeking lead/architect position in Seattle, Portland, Denver or Boise. I've done short-term contracts for the past five years and I'm seeking more stability and continuity, preferably in health-care or data-mining/analysis/policy fields. My best project was my first (ASPEN & ISS) and I'd like to find something similar.

I have a seventeen-year history of new technology evaluation and implementation, including successful design and distribution of experimental mobile computer initiatives for the US Department of Transportation across forty States, merging CRM and call center software from acquired startup companies and J2EE development for large corporations.

Identifying and predicting technical trends has been my hobby since 1993 and my track record is fairly good. My data-mining methodology originally used Usenet newsgroups, then later data from Dice.com, Monster.com and Dejanews. That methodology is now used by several sites, including Google Trends and Indeed.com. My DEFCON data-mining presentations include biodiversity concepts (commonality versus differentiation, ecological niche) for software and information manipulation.

2008: I'm currently the #1 Google entry for "Schramm Model" (communication theory). I'm also in top ten results at Google, Bing, Yahoo for different variations of "Schramm communication theory", "Meme theory" and "Coase Theory" (information propagation and transaction costs)

2005-07: Presenter at the annual DEFCON hacker conference on unique data-mining techniques.
DEFCON 15 Video (2007) presentation on click fraud detection via meme theory
DEFCON 14 Video (2006) presentation on meme mining and meme theory
DEFCON 13 Video (2005) presentation on meme mining and business analysis

2005: Created flu tracking concept with Google's data before Google's Flu tracking began.

1999: Attended JavaOne because my data-mining confirmed java as an important technology.

1996: USDOT Letter Of Commendation for ASPEN.

1994: BSU Student Employee Of the Year for ASPEN & ISS.

1992-96: Principal Developer of ASPEN & ISS, mobile computer R&D for the US Dept of Transportation.

1984: #3 worldwide score for Xevious videogame.
